Happy Holidays from Everyone at PRMS
As part of PRMS’ ongoing commitment to support mental healthcare and in the spirit of giving, we are pleased to announce our annual #GivingTuesdaysupport of three organizations working to improve mental health and wellbeing in communities across the country. This year, PRMS is proud to support Free2Talk, Given an Hour, and Child Mind Institute – each organization recognizes the unique challenges faced by different members of society, from children and youths to veterans, and we are honored to highlight their missions this holiday season of giving.
Free2Talk
Established by William Mount at the encouragement of his mother and pediatrician, Free2Talk is a Virginia non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial support to young people in the state who need therapy but cannot afford it. The organization aims to cover up to 80% of costs for up to 16 weeks of therapy with the help of a partner network. Having experienced the transformative impact of both speech and mental health therapy himself, William recognized the financial barriers that prevent many kids and teens from accessing these services and was inspired to help make these services more accessible. Child Mind Institute
Nearly one in five children struggle from mental health or learning challenges, and around 70% of counties in the United States do not have a child and adolescent psychiatrist, according to the Child Mind Institute website. The Child Mind Institute recognizes the need for compassionate, personalized and evidence-based care among young people and is dedicated to advancing child and adolescent mental health by combatting the challenges that stigma, misinformation, and lack of access to care create for children and their families. Through public education, research, clinical centers in both San Francisco and New York City, and telemedicine support in certain states, Child Mind Institute has helped provide clinical care to more than 15,300 children and educate millions of families since its founding more than a decade ago – all while leading a revolutionary approach to the science of the developing brain through its Scientific Research Council. Give an Hour
Harnessing the skills and expertise of a national network of volunteers, Give an Hour provides no-cost mental health support to at-risk populations and individuals facing challenges such as trauma during and after military service and natural and man-made disasters. As its website states, the organization’s mission is to develop resilient individuals and communities, and to improve social impact through responsive, scalable, and individualized mental health programs aimed at closing access and delivery gaps to mental health care.
