Life of PRMS: Terri Starkey, Underwriter
I started working at PRMS in September 2022 as an Underwriter. Some of my responsibilities include handling inquiries from our clients, reviewing new business policies for eligibility based on underwriting guidelines, and pricing accounts accurately by applying discounts and debits when applicable. I also review renewal policies and make sure the clients’ locations are accurate – discounts are either applied or removed, and any necessary updates are made at the time of renewal.
Another part of my job includes representing PRMS at different psychiatric exhibits, conferences, and district branch meetings, where I ensure our clients know how much we appreciate their business and their loyalty to the company. In addition, I provide explanations regarding coverage and other additional benefits clients receive as a PRMS insured. I always assure clients that they have made the right choice in their decision to come on board with us.
When needed, I make policy updates to coverage limits, locations, and provider changes. I also counsel clients on any concerns they may have regarding coverage or practice changes they are considering. I am managing various projects; currently, I am working on two major ones, one of which is to assist in growing our broker book of business, and the other to review our policy language and address potential gaps in coverage and ambiguities that may need additional clarification.
One of my favorite parts about working at PRMS is the people I work with, both clients and colleagues. I find it rewarding to help our clients keep their practices safe and my colleagues have become an extended family.
