Life of PRMS: Robert Clark, Litigation Specialist

I began my career with PRMS in January 2022 as a Litigation Specialist in the Claims Department. My primary role is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims, lawsuits, or other actions brought against our clients in the psychiatric community. My day-to-day responsibilities include the privilege of working directly with our accomplished clients, defense counsel, plaintiffs, and plaintiff’s counsel to investigate and address critical issues involved in claims and develop strategy to defend our clients through the litigation process. I currently manage claims in 12 states.

After more than ten years of working in insurance claims and insurance defense, primarily within an automotive context, I was delighted and eager to explore a different realm of claims; namely, medical professional liability, with an exclusive focus on behavioral health, the practice of psychiatry, and the treatment of mental illness. I can say without hesitation that after more than 16 months with the company, joining PRMS has been one of the best professional decisions I have made in my career. I have met and worked with many of our clients, and developed a great deal of respect for them and the profound work they do for their patients. I appreciate working with talented colleagues, from whom I have learned a lot in my tenure thus far at PRMS. Each day, I navigate complex and sophisticated legal issues associated with the claims and lawsuits our clients receive and work alongside my team to support our clients throughout every step of the process.

There are so many great reasons I enjoy working at PRMS. Foremost, I genuinely enjoy the work I do and the feeling that I am making a difference for psychiatrists who have dedicated their lives and careers to improving mental health. Also, I enjoy the people I work with and feel that I am a part of a great team. Finally, I am challenged every day and can see a great deal of growth in myself since joining the company – I am looking forward to a great future with PRMS!
