This September, When You Refer, PRMS Will Up the Donations to Mental Health
In honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this September, PRMS is pleased to donate to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and announce the return of Double Donations through our “Refer a Colleague” program.
National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
This month in honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness, PRMS is proud to support and shine a light on the work of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, whose mission is to “save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.” As a volunteer health organization, AFSP provides a community for people affected by suicide. The community is “empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death,” as AFSP’s website states. According to the organization, ninety percent of people who die by suicide have an underlying - and potentially treatable - mental health condition.
Throughout September, AFSP is hosting educational events virtually, including the following:
- September 8: Webinar on “Policy Approaches to Preventing Suicide Among Health Professionals & First Responders” from 3 pm to 4 pm EDT
- September 10: Facebook Live event for World Suicide Prevention Day featuring a concert, celebrity artists, and partners which will begin at 12 pm and is scheduled to end at 8 pm EDT
- September 21: Suicide Prevention Month Webinar with ASCA, starting at 1 pm EDT

“Refer a Colleague” Double Donations Month
To further our support of the mental health community this month, PRMS is doubling our “Refer a Colleague” program donations to $100 all September. For every referral received from September 1 through September 30, 2021, we will donate to the mental health organization of the referrer’s choice. Eligible organizations range from NAMI, a state psychiatric association, or a national or regional specialty psychiatric association of the referrer’s choice. A donation will be made regardless of whether a policy is purchased. Please find a complete list of qualifying organizations here.
