Remembering Jackie Melonas
With sadness, we share the news that our former colleague, Jackie Melonas, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Jackie joined PRMS in 1998 as Director of Risk Management, and combining her experience as a clinical specialist in psychiatric nursing with her legal background, she was responsible for establishing the highly-respected and robust risk management program that today is a hallmark of PRMS. Jackie expanded and strengthened the Risk Management Consultation Service -- through this helpline, more than 76,000 psychiatric risk management issues have been addressed to date. She was passionate about patient safety and her contributions to the field were countless.
During her 13-year tenure at PRMS, Jackie frequently spoke at regional and national psychiatric events, authored articles on healthcare law and risk management topics, and mentored colleagues -- she always happy to share her vast knowledge and time with others. Jackie retired in 2011 as PRMS Senior Vice President but continued to work with us as an advisor and consultant.
Jackie was a much-loved and admired colleague, and we will remember her kindness, compassion, ever-present sense of humor, and spirit of adventure as she traveled the globe with her husband Jim. We will also remember her love of family and pride in her children and grandchildren, her brilliant smile, and her big heart. She will be missed.
