The Life of PRMS: Justin Pope, Associate Risk Manager
In October 2013, I began working with PRMS as a risk management assistant. Whereas many of my law school classmates took the bar examination during the summer immediately following our graduation, I decided to take the examination at a later date, affording myself greater time for bar preparation and exploration of the job market. To cover any living expenses, I thought it best to search for a temporary position and soon interviewed with a staffing agency. As fate would have it, I was unable to accept the first job placement I received, and weeks passed as I awaited a second offer. Finally, I received a call from the agency. “So how much do you know about professional liability insurance?”
As the risk management assistant, I provided administrative support, answered calls, and referred risk management inquiries. In this position, I came to understand which issues troubled our insureds and how our staff determinedly worked to address client needs. To be honest, I had never worked at a company like this before – one so connected to its customers and genuinely committed to putting them first.
In January 2014, I was offered a position as the newest risk manager. I have learned a great deal from my colleagues and feel privileged to be under the tutelage of such experienced and knowledgeable professionals. Working at PRMS has been fascinating and challenging, but most importantly, meaningful. It is truly an honor to assist physicians who are so devoted to and passionate about their work. I have enjoyed three great years at PRMS, and I am certain there are many more to come!
