Time Flies...
Earlier this week our Marketing Manager here at PRMS asked me what I was going to write about for the first anniversary of the blog. I told her that I’d think about that in a few months when the anniversary came around. She then reminded me (and proved to me) that we rolled out the blog in September 2011. It has been a short year! So what will we write about in the coming year?
Looking back at past blog posts, I was struck by the timelessness of much of what we wrote about. Good risk management principles are simple and timeless. We could, and we will, present the same advice in the coming year as we have over the past on topics such as maintaining good medical records, getting solid informed consent, keeping up with advances in psychopharmacology, and adjusting your practice to the needs of patients (e.g., “back to school” and “school’s out for summer”). We will strive, however, for livelier, more practical postings, lighter on abstractions.
Some readers have suggested that we incorporate more “real life” claim, underwriting and risk management scenarios in our posts. We will attempt to do that, while remaining sensitive to protecting the confidentiality of our customers and their patients.
Others have urged us to comment on political matters (for example, whether we support or oppose particular efforts to enact tort reform, or explain where we stand on issues affecting the practice of medicine). That we will avoid.
Finally, we are grateful that so many of you read the blog and email us comments about it. Please continue to let us know what you think.
